Aswatuna Arab Choral Festival, is an innovative and imaginative meeting of Arab choirs and choral musicians together with Swedish musicians and choral musicians from other Arab countries and from the rest of the world.

The festival will take place from 19 to 22 August, 2008 in the ancient city Petra Jordan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site


The project brings together choral musicians from the five Arab peoples of the Levant: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. All choral musicians are invited to join in this first choral celebration of musical unity in the Arab world. It is also the first choral encounter between Arab choirs and Western musicians. Aswatuna is organized in association with Rikskonserter/Concerts Sweden in cooperation with the International Federation for Choral Music and the Swedish Embassy in Jordan.

The festival of more than 200 choral singers and conductors will culminate in an event in Little Petra.
